Black bears in the area typically keep a significant distance from people and are very skittish, making them difficult to photograph without a zoom lens or trail camera. On one occasion, a mother bear, a father bear, and a young cub were observed on the property mountaintop feeding on wild ground blueberries for hours—alternating between eating, resting, and feeding again before moving back into the forest.
